Farmingdale State College Horticulture Student Awarded Two Scholarships

Farmingdale State College's ornamental horticulture students were honored on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Farmingdale Horticulture Committee's Annual Scholarship Reception for their hard work and excellence in the field of horticulture. Thirteen students received almost $19,000 worth of scholarship money in the names of influential organizations and leaders in the billion dollar 'green' industry.
Farmingdale State College President Dr. W. Hubert Keen is pleased to announce that Ms. Laura Torres is this year's recipient of the Charlotte Schwenk Award and the Farmingdale Horticulture Committee Scholarship. Ms. Torres, an Astoria resident, is a member of the Horticulture Club.
The Farmingdale Horticulture Committee's mission is to benefit excellence in the Farmingdale State College horticulture curriculum, to provide scholarships for the best and brightest students, to advertise the program and to further the development of the Horticulture teaching gardens as the very finest in the Northeast, if not the country.
