First Recipient Awarded Perry B. Duryea Jr. Scholarship

On March 21, 2007, The Farmingdale Foundation and Alumni Association Student Scholarship Reception was held in Roosevelt Hall's Multi-Purpose Room at Farmingdale State College . Over $84,000 worth of scholarship money was awarded to 57 students at the reception. Farmingdale State President

Dr. W. Hubert Keen was pleased to announce that Farmingdale resident,

Ms. Mary E. Hart was the first recipient of the Perry B. Duryea, Jr. Endowed Scholarship. Ms. Marie Therese Duryea, wife of the late Perry Duryea, and Mr. Doug Manditch, former CEO of L.I. Commercial Bank and current Chair of Empire Bank, were in attendance to present the award.

A Computer Programming & Information System major, Ms. Hart is a member of both Phi Delta Alpha and Sigma Beta Delta Honor Societies. A resident of Farmingdale, she earned her associate degree from FSC and a degree from SUNY College at Old Westbury.

Perry B. Duryea, Jr. was the founding Chair of the Long Island Commercial Bank. A native Long Islander, he spent 18 years in the New York State Assembly. He served as president of the L.I. Park Commission and was instrumental in the expansion of the State University system.

The Farmingdale College Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that provides financial assistance in advancing the purposes and development of the College. The Foundation provides scholarships, faculty development grants, and support of programs and projects that are not funded by the State budget. The Alumni Association is a not-for-profit corporation which provides a positive link between graduates and the College.
