New Peace Corps Initiative at Farmingdale State College

Farmingdale State College will host an informational meeting about the Peace Corps' new 50+ initiative.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Peace Corps is invited to attend. The meeting will take place on Monday, August 6 from approximately 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Roosevelt Hall Little Theatre (for a map and directions, go to Farmingdale Map ) on campus.

Participants will be welcomed by New York Regional Office Manager Vinny Wickes who will describe this outreach to people who might think their age would disqualify them from joining the Peace Corps. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will be recognized.

A ten minute Peace Corps 50+ Focus video will be shown. Following remarks by Peace Corps Director Ron Tschetter, Representative Steve Israel (D, NY) will talk about his support of Director Tschetter's proposal to increase the number of Peace Corps Volunteers over the age of 50.

At 12:45 p.m., participants will have an opportunity to "Ask the Expert" with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Light refreshments will be served.

"Life is calling. How far will you go?" is a question asked by the Peace Corps. Get the answer on August 6 at Farmingdale State College.

Please reserve a seat at this meeting by calling 212-352-5440.
