Fraternity Recruitment

Eligibility to Join a Fraternity:

  • Must be a currently registered Farmingdale State College student
  • Must meet the organization's national minimum GPA:
    • Alpha Phi Delta: 2.00
    • Kappa Sigma: 2.25
    • Tau Kappa Epsilon: 2.25

Formal fraternity recruitment takes place in the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters.  Each individual organization plans, hosts, and advertises their own recruitment events, which all take place within a two-week timeframe.  The purpose of these recruitment events is to meet the men in the fraternities, and to learn about what it means to be a brother.  The recruitment process is a mutually selective process, meaning potential new members and the fraternities select each other based on their values, morals, and personal standards.  At the end of the recruitment period, the fraternities will extend a bid to the men they wish to have join their organization.
